Is CX 472 back to B777 ?
when I did book my trip it was on a A350.

Not so excited now

These flights change equipment so often, there is nothing to read into. You cannot really plan what you'll get regionally to TPE, no matter what the schedule says or it was when you booked.

To make matters "worse", cx472 has always been extremely variable, even among tpe flights. We just try to temper everyone's expectations here: you CANNOT guarantee or plan regional equipment on CX.

Some flight #s or routes are emote predictable than others, but TPE is probably the worst. A few TPE flights are more predictable (aka CX474) to at least get a longhaul product, but even then I've had 77W swapped to 772 on that flight for me and later a359 to 77W. You just should not be booking your regional schedule to get certain aircraft, I'm sorry to say.

Hi
Don't post outside of the BAEC forum much due to flying habits/location, but thought I'd share my thoughts on the CX A359 which I took from SIN>HKG two weeks ago in J (15K).
Unfortunately I was disappointed, aircraft was 6months old (looked it up on Flight Tracker) and I felt the seat material was already looking very worn. There were several threads appearing in the side bench (under the window) and the arm rest was infuritrating. It wouldn't stay up, when it did it was wobbly and the material on it looked like it had been shredded due to the constant raising / lowering of it. I also would hate to sit in the front 2 middle seats (11D/G I think), they basically are in straight line of sight of the Forward toilets, very poor design I would feel.
The flight overall was fine from a service point of view and the IFE was good, but I was expecting a wow factor and came away distinctly underwhelmed sadly.

Recently I had the chance to chitchat with someone in CX management a bit. I was surprised to know that CX identified ORD EWR BOS to be viable 35G ports but the 35G does not have enough legs to fly to these ports! And I was told they will remain 777 for the foreseeable future. SFO/LAX is as far as it can go :(

Since SQ flies the same 275T A359 17hr+ SFO-SIN I don't believe range is the whole story. I assume they'll become A350-1000 destinations, which should fly more payload the same distance (except far end of the envelope) as A359s.

yeah I think Singapore focuses less on cargo; at least they don't care about it as much as CX. CX can definitely fly 35Gs to EWR but they probably want a full cargo belly and that would be impossible on a long route like that.

Additionally, anyone know if the 35Ks will be fitted with the same Y seats as the 35G? Or will they be fitted with a wider version of the new 10-abreast 777 seat?

ORD has dedicated cargo flights so cargo uplift shouldn't be a problem on the A350.

The A350-1000 is getting the Vector Y+ economy seat, as it's manufactured by HAECO. I don't know if it'll have 11" AVOD like the 359 or 12" like the new 777 seats.

I cant find anything that shows both together, but here are two separate charts showing the 77W and A359 and their payload range. Put simply, BOS/EWR/ORD are not far enough for the A359. At ~7,000nm a 77W can carry 5-10 tonnes more. The A35K should carry more at all ranges.

The 77W would carry a higher payload than the A359 but being a larger aircraft would also seat more (in EWRs case) thus requiring it to not fly with a seat block. The A359s wouldn't need to carry as large a payload to leave with full pax and the same amount of cargo since the 77G's 60 extra pax probably equates to roughly 5T with bags.

Even so, the 77W would burn close to 30T more fuel flying to ORD/EWR/BOS than an A359, so even if they had to leave behind some cargo the 77W currently takes it would still be more profitable.

Alas, especially with MAN increasing to daily, I fear there aren't enough A359s to go around. Waiting for the A35K is the likely scenario.

I'm not sure. The A359 can take ~40t to 7,000nm. The 77W can take around 50t. A standard passenger weighs 83kg from memory, probably 100kg including baggage. The extra 60 passengers a 77G carries is still only 6t, leaving 4 extra for cargo.

None of that includes fuel burn differences.

A friend is currently onboard CX 855. (Flightradar shows it as B-LRJ)

He said indeed, the aircraft is very quiet compared to any other he's flown.
Wifi is working great. He's really happy with the storage space. Seat/pod, walls, cabin look spotless......:D

I was on my first 350 flight and asked to see the flight deck after landing which the crew were happy to oblige. I was a but surprised though when I was told that I can't take a picture of the flight deck due to company policy. Is this true for CX or just crew dependent?
