Business Save rules?

Hi all,

I am looking at a Business Save fare from HKG to LAX.

The business save fare is about $2,000USD one way. However it appears the rules surrounding changes are very liberal:

https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...lass=&brand=CX

If I'm reading this correctly I can cancel this flight for 4,000 Sri Lankan Rupees (or $29 USD). I assume then that I'd get back my $2,000USD if I needed to cancel?

Further - it appears I can rebook (change dates) for the same $29 USD (plus any fare changes)? Seems like very liberal terms if true. Just wanted to confirm that I'm reading this correctly. Most airlines in my experience charge hundreds of dollars for rebookings and give bupkus for cancellations. Hard to believe I've got this correct.

Haven't seen the link, but that seems like a CMB-HKG-LAX fare, rather than a HKG-LAX one..& yes the conditions are broadly inline with what I recall from my exCMB CX fares days

Yes, correct. It is a CMB>HKG>LAX fare.

Business Save rules?

Yep- I'd expect them to be very flexible..date changes used to be free till the last time I used them (last year)...for kicks, check out if the ORD fares are still pricing out 10-15% lower..JFK was always expensive though.

I booked a Business Save fare from CDG-AKL with stopovers in HKG both ways. A few days after booking I realised that my deprture from HKG-CDG on the return was one day earlier than I wanted (the flight leaves HKG just after midnight so in effect I lost all of the departure day). I called CX and changed the flight to the following day and they charged me something like 50 cents to make the change. Unfortunatlely I lost row 12 in the mini-cabin that I had managed to grab as apparently it was full for the next day (how can I tell if the seats are blocked rather than allocated?).

The 50cents was probably from tax / exchange rate difference from your original tix and the new one.

I suppose 50 cents was probably enough to cover internal processing costs of the 50 cents charge . Should there be any rebooking fee?

Yes, I think you're right on that, I remember now her saying something about tax and apologising for the charge and I did get an upgrade to First from Standard Class on the Poitiers to CDG TGV leg when I asked about it and it was FOC.
