It shouldn't really come as any surprise that SWIRE don't offer lower fares than CX

On the contrary i would expect them to be have access to better fares than anyone in a normal market (which i know HK is not)

I've seen something similar in the past.

exSIN, they'll have a plethora of card linked and other promotions, and you'll only see the fare when you go to the promotion's webpage on the CX site and search from there. Likely the fare level for Expedia is similar to what one of the card linked promo fares is (most of them have very similar prices).

Thing is, not all the promos are listed on the website! A couple of years back, I I called in to book a ANZ card linked fare and invoke my seat guarantee (global reservations lines, not the SIN office). The agent couldn't find that fare, but, got me the exact same fare with UOB cards (something like 'aah found the $XXX fare..wait, its for UOB cards')- which worked even better for me (Ticket restrictions did have a 'must be paid with a UOB card' ..or something like that.
And the UOB fare wasn't listed on the CX site at that time.

True. Especially exSIN it's often easier to book via Expedia if you don't care about potential changes or upgrades. I've snagged countless <2k SGD fares in PEY to LAX this way.

Apologies for going OT..with the Expedia/UOB promo..it makes for a tidy bunch of miles as well! (And while I hate Expedia SG not having a 24hr call centre, they've always waived their fees when I've needed to change/cancel).
