I assume if I go airside, and I so happen to be inside a CX lounge, they will page you over. But what if I'm airside either shopping, or hopping between lounges, at QF lounge, or golfing...etc. How will they notify me?

MPO Eng line claims it will be difference in TPE's PEY and Y ; 2000 AM, without taking the longer journey into consideration. Automatically applied few days after the flight has been completed. I'll take that with a grain of salt for now.
Could only offer me the 8am flight. You can go ahead and standby at airport on the day of. She said since it's involuntary downgrade, the $25 reissue fee will not apply.

I have lounge access. But how will this work? I'll indicate I want to standby for earlier flights at the time of checkin. Will I have to stay landside?

If you hop to another CX lounge, you can tell them about the standby and have them scan your BP. If you are elsewhere, you may have to check back at the lounge.
