Not sure if it was discussed before but I'm wondering if CX has any plans on increasing baggage allowance across their network?

I noticed SQ is already offering 30Kgs for Economy, 40Kgs for Business and 50Kgs for First...Qatar also have the same rules, while my brother says on JL they have switched to per piece system for all flights, where First/Business Class can bring 3 x 32Kgs while economy passengers are allowed up to 2 x 23Kgs.

I asked CX this (again) a few months ago because BA also have a generous 3 x 32kg (+ 1 x32kg, if you're DM / OWE) on the LHR route

Reply was that they have no plans to change - which is what they've been saying for the past few years when I've asked.

I voted with my feet and flew with BA...CW isnt great but I can sleep reasonably well and the food is better

F&B and baggage allowance is one of the worst offerings CX have. although most business flyers (unless merchandise samples are a concern) dont fly with 3x32kg luggage.

Since turning GO it never has been a problem for me but when I was speaking to a few friends they told me the reason why I decided to fly SQ to Europe this summer is because SQ gives 30kgs in Y instead of 20Kgs with CX.

As OWS, I will still get +15 kg when flying CX in Y, so 35 kgs limit right? I remember flying CX in Y from CGK and the check-in counter lady said it's not the case.

35kg is what Cathay's baggage chart says for OWS

MH is offering the same 30-40-50kgs also...is CX the only one left (perhaps with PR) that still offers 20-30-40kgs?

By the way, MH has an on going promotion to Europe from MNL, 1,610 USD for J Class or about 1,750 with taxes.

I had this issue flying from PEK a few months ago. I had the printout from the OW page but this was disregarded for 40 minutes. It was eventually accepted after some further checks and my bag was accepted for check in (30kg).

When I got to HKG, I tracked down a supervisor and explained the situation. She apologised profusely as she knew exactly about the allowance for OWS and said she would get a message sent to PEK to reiterate the baggage policy for OWS.

There were no problems or questions asked on my return from SUB.

I was amazed when the GA in PEK said to me that BA has nothing to do with CX. She was still adamant when I explained they were both in the One World alliance. Even the CX/KA rep in PEK was dismissive. When I told the supervisor in HKG about this she asked if it was a man I had dealt with. I confirmed, and her facial expression told me that she was seemed to have had or known about previous experience with him.

My advice is to go with a copy of the OW page on extra baggage allowance for OWS pax.

In contrast, I flew QR from PEK a couple of weeks prior to this. Given that they have not long been OW members, I was expecting a bit of head scratching and reservations from their ground staff, but when I presented my luggage there were no questions asked or eye lids batted. QR staff seemed more than aware.
