One Waitlisted flight per sector?
Had a rather interesting call last night with the MPC hotline, I was connect to an operator within 3 mins..
[Would have been shocking enough if it ended there, but here it goes]
The lady said since last Monday, you will only be allowed 1 maximum waitlisted flights on any award booking. It used to be 3 per sector, for a max of 6 waitlisted flights per round trip booking.
She also claims using 'manage my booking' on cathaypacific.com, she could locate my booking with my Full name + Booking Reference and able to modify (add/remove requested flights) on that same page, and made it sound like calling was a hassle and I'm basically wasting her time doing something that can be done online.
I tried locating that 'modify booking' link/button on that very page, on 3 different browsers, to no avail. So I asked her to please verify with a supervisor and enquired where this new policy was published/announced.
She was certain this new policy was in place and no supervisor could talk to me immediately but will have someone else follow up. She was rude the whole time as well, saying 'It's right there sir, just click it!'
Unconvinced, 10 mins after hanging up, I called the MPC hotline again, this time in Cantonese, again was surprised when connected to operator within 1 minute (Shocking
). Of course, he said he has NEVER heard of such policy and more than happy to add waitlisted flights to my booking. At this point, I thought maybe the Manila office got an early memo. I thanked him and told him I was impressed with his service (Cantonese MPC operators has a bad-reputation in HK).
20 mins later, needed help with another booking, called the hotline and pressed 1 out of habit, was connected to a Manila-based operator, after helping me with an issue, I enquired whether this award booking policy existed, he said nope.
So either, this is true and we will only get to waitlist one flight per award sector, when everyone in the office gets the memo.
or I have been BS'ed in the face by a rude operator
!!

This is truly feeding my OCD. Now whenever I get told "no" to anything, I HUACA another agent in the Manila and another in Tsuen Wan to make sure.

Damn, I regret not getting her name in the first place.
I just trusted the MPC agent, thinking they must have had good training.
and the certainty in her voice, that liar!!
Guess I was completely wrong..
