Qualify to Silver on first segment - how to enter lounge while waiting in HK
Hi all,
Right now really close to Silver level and my next flight goes to HK and onto LA --- is it possible to get into the lounge in HK considering if my flight to HK is included then I would be over the requirement for Silver ? Would be nice to relax before the long flight to US...

If you had a two day stopover in HKG you might be able to... if flying in on CX.
As a connection, extremely doubtful. But take your pre-trip MPO account printout and boarding pass and ask. But do it nicely and accept no gracefully.
Happy wandering

If i were you, i would have write to MPO and explain to them that you will have been qualified after the first flight.
One more friendly reminder is that you should consider removing your MPO# from HKG-LAX segment at gate, otherwise, the miles earned for that segment will be wasted as it will not be counted in your silver membership year

+1 to what LchChester said....'losing' the HKG-LAX club miles if they post the same day as the first flight would be a bummer..(as they'd count in the old year, and not in the new year as a Silver) ..although MPC will consider such flights if you have a shortfall in future years, best to keep things clear on paper. Write in, and with ticketing bookings at hand, they might just move you up to Silver beforehand.

Hi all,
happy ending - did get a entry to lounge just by being polite and showing up and explaining situation.
The lounge dragon did check everything though --- BP on the original flight. check computer to see remaining miles, check when is next flight and that it is on CX, even check name on passport match Boarding pass.
After all that --- and a call to duty manager that I would be there only for a couple of hours and it isn't too full... got the reentry stamp on connecting flight BP
