Chances of getting reward waitlist ticket?

Hi all,

I can only get wait listed for my return flight from Hanoi on Monday 10th Nov on flight KA296. I've never been wait listed before, I assume they hold it to see how full the flight gets and then release extra tickets if it's ok.

Is there a good contingency plan around this? Buy a ticket that has no cancellation fees and then use that if it doesn't come through? Appreciate any insights!

As GO you can wait till 7 Nov to decide to buy a ticket or not, so no rush to get such ticket

Sure, go ahead and book it - you're on Flex anyway.

CX (by extension KA) has been recently fxcking around with their inventory (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...l#post23746494 , http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...l-pricing.html) - showing chronic shortages of seats until releasing shxtloads of both revenue and redemption just before departure - I'd wait them out.

I doubt you'll take HX as a substitute so KA is running around with a "Can't do fxckall to me" tattooed to its forehead, and turning around to moon us.

Im waiting on the same flights but for the 26th Nov. Its much harder on certain days of the week, as there is only the early flight. On days with two flights they seem to have very good availability. Have you looked at priority awards tiers? mine only showed tier 2, but today tier 1 came up. I will continue to wait for standard though.

Edit: I checked, they don't have anything in priority either.
