Lifetime if you can requalify each year with at least 4 sectors.

on paper yes, and in reality this has hardly been enforced. (never heard of someone losing CX GR but those ppl might not even know so, lets say hardly been.)

or you could fly HX J, there are most of the time below 7k, you can also buy the HX airpass where you get like 5 flights or so for a fixed price..you'll have lounge access (the club in TPE and HX lounge in HKG), 60kg luggage and priority.

Quote: I just did a dummy booking for TPE-HKG next week:

the lowest 100% mileage accrual V class TPE-HKG return costs 7688 NTD
the cheapest discounted 0% mileage Q class costs around 6348 NTD.

Price diff isn't significant here (certainly not double up the fare given I assume that you're flexible on departure time ex-TPE) Perhaps it's time for your company and you to look closer at this matter and make the best use of the money - i.e. buying a more flexible fare and allowing you to earn miles to quality for Silver!
Sounds good, except I believe I just discovered why my company always buys the cheapest fares: http://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_U...arketcode=TWHK

If I'm reading this correctly it seems that for the Taipei --> Hong Kong route, there is no difference between the cheapest fare (no miles) and the cheapest fare that can earn miles in terms of cancellation fees and re-booking.

I suppose from the company's point of view, there is no benefit for them in paying for a higher fare class.
