Hi, I have some questions in regards to my options for some waitlisted bookings I have.
I have several waitlisted bookings for SYD-xHKG-YYZ for 26 and 27 December. With the below example, if SYD-HKG confirmed on Booking 1 but HKG-YYZ is confirmed on Booking 2, are they able to place the confirmed segments onto the same booking reference so it's booked and charged as SYD-YYZ (85,000 miles) or will it have to be booked and charged as SYD-HKG and HKG-YYZ on two booking references?
Finally, is Asia Miles able to hold reservations on partner bookings? If space opens up for SYD-YYZ on one or a combination of oneworld carriers, I would book, however I would need to transfer in some Asia Miles. |
a lot of people hold the ticket a longtime before departure, some time before departure, they cancel the trip.
A very interesting thing is in CX system, you can hold a ticket forever for free |
Hi, I'm a new member here, can anyone please help in providing useful information on my current waitlist on Asia Miles (No MPC status) business class redemption for ZRH-HKG-KUL flight on 24 Dec 2018? Specifically, it's CX382 on 24/12 connecting to KA731 on 25/12. What are the current loads of these flights? Please advise.
Thank you. |

Hi! CX newbie here. I would like to redeem 2 J seats NGO / NRT -> HKG , seeing that they seem to be more likely to be available? I guess KIX is OK too as my travel date is Nov 23 or 24. and the airport should be OK by then.
... Just now waitlisted for Nov 23 CX533 NGO-HKG CX527 NRT - HKG .. |
Hi all,
I would like to redeem a return flight (HKG/ICN) in standard economy award. The inbound flight can only be waitlisted. I've never used a waitlist option before so any input is appreciated. Thanks Dec 10 2018 HKG/ICN (CX418) is available Dec 19 2018 ICN/HKG (CX419) is on waitlist. If I go ahead and book this return flight, do they deduct the mile for the outbound flight right away or they will wait till the inbound flight (CX419) is clear before completing the transaction? Do you think the chance is very slim that space will open up for CX419 flight? No MPC status. According to CX.com, CX419 flights are selling V class as minimum now. |
Looking at doing a OW out of HKG. Have a few different flights waitlisted in F, but would like something confirmed before booking my outbound to HKG (unrelated to my HKG outbound). I saw J availability on an ex-HKG flight. If I book that, is it easy/painless to switch to an F flight if I clear the waitlist?

If you check CX.com, flights on 15 Dec are selling K class as minimum so you can rest assured that you won't get any redemption seat on 15 Dec in Y where on 8 Dec they are selling N for 881 and S for 883. If you have Choice award I'd recommend you to grab it if you really need that travelling
For J, I'd say loading means nothing to your waitlist status (probably unless you are DMP). I'm wait-listing a companion J seat for a flight from Tokyo back to Hong Kong with J class wide open for a few months already. They simply won't release those seats and just hope that someone will buy them later. |
I'm curious if anyone has any insight into (or experience with) waitlisting as it relates to STANDARD vs. CHOICE.
I'm wondering if (or how much) STANDARD waitlist clearing goes on in the background. In other words, perhaps you are waitlist for a STANDARD redemption, but only CHOICE is showing as available. You then get a notice that your waitlist cleared, but CHOICE is still showing on the website. And if it happens... did you have status? I understand that you can book CHOICE immediately, or instead decide to waitlist for STANDARD. My observation is that when redemptions become available, they either appear as CHOICE seats or STANDARD, and tend to stay that way. It's not often that you see availability transition from CHOICE to STANDARD. You are more likely to see them go from STANDARD to CHOICE, or go from either to "waitlist only". These CHOICE tickets are stupid expensive and I fume at the thought of needing to waste so many miles for a redemption. I'm wondering if patience pays off. Just hold the waitlist for STANDARD... or bite the bullet on CHOICE. |
Quite late. My wife had to wait til 10 days last month to clear standard on a half-empty flight (not released to partners at all). I was heading elsewhere that weekend and had to bite Choice. |
New thing or just crappy agent? Was told there is a 'new rule' where partially-confirmed reservations with 1 month deadlines can no longer be further extended upon expiration. Nevertheless, gave the DM buzzword and 'an exception' was made and they just extended the deadline all the way until T-5 (this is for ~3 months out companion award)

I am not sure if this is possible. Does that mean there will be no chance of getting this award (CX419) cleared? Thanks again. |
Can someone do a quick check on CX 288 FRA-HKG? Flying on Jan 6 Business. Thanks! |
