"At the moment, there are no Business Class upgrade award seats available
from Hong Kong to Singapore and between Hong Kong and Vancouver on your preferred travel dates. If we can confirm any seats by 22 June 2016 we will definitely let you know, otherwise, your upgrade flights will be automatically cancelled" That's what he said. He knows that SIN-HKG is infact available. So I don't think I misinterpret the meaning. It will be canceled if the SET (the way he put it) is not confirmed. Which is all or nothing. Maybe you are right about the mixed class. But, Not all sectors have PEY. I did reply their last email said that I'm willing to do a one-way upgrade as they suggested. We'll see what happens next. Fingers crossed |

Fingers crossed 1.) You can absolutely ticket awards sector by sector. This is just a fact. We're not making it up! So either he is grossly mistaken and you are not correcting him, OR there is something related to #2 below. Btw, what he's saying is your award waitlist will be cancelled. Because otherwise your statement doesn't make sense...by your own reckoning, you don't have any confirmed upgrades. Hence, how can there be anything for him to cancel? What I think he's saying is your waitlist to upgrade will be cancelled. Now, if I have misconstrued what you're saying, and instead some sector is confirmed for the upgrade, then ticket it!. And you need to issue the ticket by that deadline or it will be cancelled. 2.) There could be something weird about a mixed class upgrade...technically Y-J and PEY-J are two different things. Maybe there is something with tying to the two segments together. Maybe they will indeed permit a "mixed class booking" and price it lower if all 4 sectors clear, which sounds like a very low chance. 3.) I am nearly certain there is nothing preventing you from trying for a SIN-HKG round-trip, and a HKG-YVR round-trip separately as upgrades. Have you tried asking the agent "Dear Mr. MPC, if I only want to upgrade the HKG-SIN segments, how can I do that?" And what has his response been? If #2 is the issue (ie, they will permit a mixed-itinerary upgrade in this situation but require all the segments to clear beforehand), this solution will almost certain rectify the problem and allow you to upgrade one of the segments. I still think the thing making this hairier than usual is the fact you are on a Y ticket SIN-HKG and PEY ticket HKG-YVR. |
I emailed them so many times. They did say only SIN-HKG is available but I cannot have it confirmed because the SET is not all available. And not only one person said that. Then, if by June 22 the SET is not available, the upgrade waitlist is canceled.
And I asked them what I should do if I want to confirm that 1 sector, then they suggested a one-way upgrade. I hope I am not confusing anyone hehe |

Again, I may be mistaken but it seems to me you are contradicting yourself!

So could you elaborate a little more what your problem is? Because I don't actually understand! At least you can see the contradiction right?

Sorry for the confusion.
Yes the upgrade waitlist is what going to be canceled My problem was I wanted to clear sector by sector as they become available but AM said I couldn't. Until I asked is there anyway for me to confirm this one sector then they said I should do one way. They didn't tell me this before today. All of them kept saying it's a set. So now I asked them to put me in one way upgrade. That's all. And I still don't know how it will go. |

Fyi, if for example the two sin-hkg-sin segments clear as one ways, you can apply to refund the difference in Asia Miles (round trip is cheaper than two one ways). Best scenario, if you strike the jackpot and get all four segments upgraded, you will be on the hook for a sin-hkg round-trip upgrade and hkg-yvr round-trip upgrade. Just fyi. This applies to above as well...I think MPC will "see" it as you're upgrading two round trips, due to the mixed class itinerary (they see you as Y/PEY/PEY/Y, hence the mixed class designation). This is what they were telling you on the phone earlier. However, i definitely rwcommend to issue the one way sectors as they clear. Because the inventory may not stay open and there is no point in waiting. I presume you want whatever clears, even if you can't get everything. For example, say you clear both regional segments and one longhaul but ticket them all independently because they clear at different times. After refund, you will effectively have been charged for a regional Y-J round-trip upgrade, and one-way longhaul PEY-J upgrade. The refund takes a little while to get. And if you only clear two segments, one regional and one longhaul, im pretty sure the charge will be two one-ways. Final fyi, when dealing with them know that they probably cannot price regional mixed with longhaul since regional is Y-J and longhaul is PEY-J. Good luck. |
Thanks for the infos... I am new at this so I appreciate the help :)
Will let you know if I got lucky.. hopefully ^_^ Thanks again |
So finally SIN-HKG is confirmed. Still hopeful on the other sectors, but HKG-YVR seems difficult to get. All of my waitlist are now one-way.

Hi! Newbie here and would like to get some advice from all the experts here...
I am MPC Green and recently called the MPC hotline to redeem round trip PEY tickets between HKG and SFO. Inbound is confirmed but outbound has to be waitlisted: Outbound (all waitlisted): 2016 July 20 - CX 870 2016 July 21 - CX 870 2016 July 21 - CX 892 Inbound (confirmed): 2016 Nov 5 - CX 873 The waitlist expires on July 4th...so my question would be...: 1) any chance I can extend the waitlist deadline to a closer to departure date? Does that affect my order or priority on the waitlist? 2) if the outbound is not cleared, I can decide whether I want to redeem and issue the single ticket inbound right? 3) does anyone know if the chance of clearing this waitlist is high or not...or anywhere I can check the chance of redemption? Thanks in advance!! |
Does anyone know if AM will allow me to ticket a waitlist in a different name?
Meaning- I have a waitlist that cleared but didn't ticket yet. I had originally waitlisted it for one person, now they can't come and want to ticket it for another. Obviously I will add them as a nominee. Any idea if this is allowed? |

Similar yes. But it appears that the quoted scenario was changing name on a ressy that was already ticketed. Mine is in waitlist-confirmed, not-yet-ticketed status.
If you manage to get AM to change the name on your cleared waitlist directly, let me know. |

No difference. AM will advise you to create a new waitlist for new pax even if booking not ticketed. As well as bring forward your ticketing deadline on your cleared waitlist for your trouble http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...confirmed.html
If you manage to get AM to change the name on your cleared waitlist directly, let me know. I guess it's a good thing I ignore the daily calls from AM asking me to book already. |
