No more ads

Shurley shum mishtake. Hic. CX makes decent coin from them. Can't believe company policy is to stop them.

Even with ads, its relatively short especially on movies. On TV series, it starts right off. CX's ad is tolerable whereas on SQ's Krisworld, its downright annoying !

Is it? I was on CX711 from HKG - SIN in J class on regional biz class seats (B772) yesterday (2 Feb). I was watching the movie "Gravity" and there was around 2 minutes of ad before the movie starts.

You all know you can fast forward the ads right?

I always see people on the plane sitting through the 2mins of ads every time they start a movie. No one tried to fast forward.

Mine was new regional J class and movie contents was for Feb 2014 as well. Maybe it is different aircraft type, resulting into different AVOD settings?
One thing for sure is that they dont have the CFG ad anymore after the safety demo.

Maybe people are used to internet videos e.g. Hulu where one cannot fast-forward during the ads. But on CX one can.

Regional contents are slightly different compared to long haul.

But anyway no big issues just something different to report back

just got off the flight today with AVOD. Movies still came with ads for about one minute in slideshow format. No ads for TV programs.

I can understand why CX does ads in Y but it just feels cheap doing it in J/F, especially a long haul premium cabin where tickets sell for $10k/$20k return full fare.

Though to be fair, SQ and LH does it in their long haul F cabins too.

Ironically, I don't think United has ads in the beginning of their AVOD movies in their J seats. However, I'll take the ads and fly CX/SQ/LH first any day.
