maximizing length of Tier status

I am current GO member sitting on 49k miles. GO membership expires on 31stMay. Will be flying HKG-Lax- HKG next week in PE. In March and April will be making few short trips within Asia.

How can I maximize my gold tier by not letting the system renew me automatically as soon as I finish my LAX-HKG leg?

Please note have use miles to upgrade from PE to J for both legs.

Thanks.

They won't renew you once you hit 60k miles. You have to wait until the end of your membership year for your miles/year to get reset (ie 31 May).

Not sure what you're asking? If you're worried about "wasting" the HKG-LAX rt miles, you can take your number off the booking, requalify for GO with your intra-Asia trips, and then after your year ticks over you can retroactively claim the HKG-LAX trip. (But be careful since you can only file a claim up to six months after the flight.)

Remember that if you're already at the tier, you get a full year at that status. If you earn more than 60,000 miles again this year while you're already GO, your club miles reset at the end of your current year and then you get another full year of the status. It's different from what happens if you move up a tier, where as soon as you earn the miles for the new status a 12-(or 13-month) year starts immediately.

Thanks. That make sense. I got confuse with how they reset between moving up a tier and maintaining a tier.

Thanks again

when you are renewing a tier, your membership date doesn't change, you will remain the same tier through that date and then the system will reassess your tier for the next year
