(1591-1043)/2+150=424EUR, but maybe when you bought the E class ticket, it was a bit higher.
And further to that - does this involve the employer/employer's TA? |

Is this an option for company-purchased tickets too? The case where e.g. employer buys ticket but has a Y-only travel policy https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trav...ht-flight.html ?
And further to that - does this involve the employer/employer's TA? Of course, if the TA is willing to make the change, that will be the easiest. If not, though, CX has a policy of charging 60USD extra to take over agency-issued tickets. The policy is here: https://www.cxagents.com/ta/en_HK/ne...-revised-.html Expect some pushbacks and may need to HUACA. |

I believe CX does not waive the change fee penalty in the vast majority of cases, though.

Pretty sure the call centre just quoted you half of the round-trip difference between E class and I class plus change fee.
Code:
FQMADPVG-CX¥BE«(1591-1043)/2+150=424EUR, but maybe when you bought the E class ticket, it was a bit higher. So I got lucky as the both MAD-HKG and HKG-PVG had I class, and CX had recently published this lower I class fare MAD-PVG? And not lucky in the I9 sense as even if I1 the price would be the same? Checked in at counter earlier, flight aws still I9, overheard pax to me asked about $ to upgrade to J (dunno if PE or E, assume they were status pax using J counter), and was quoted 850eur (one segment)....a bit lower than the earlier offered 1013eur ugrade bid but not much discount even though at I9. |

Yes. When you say you were booked in E, I assume you meant E class, but if you meant Economy, I guess it matters what your underlying fare basis was. It is also possible there was a lower I class fare at the time you booked, but I class seats were not available, or perhaps the E class fare you bought was a bit higher than the current one.

I (finally) had a proper look at the fare constructions between the new and old tickets Old ticket ER99ESHR was 870 (435/direction) New ticket same ER99ESHR is now 1043 (521/direction) IR99ESAR is 1591 (795.direction) The fare difference was 1/2 of the IR99ESAR (795) + 1/2 of the new-priced ER99ESHR (521) - old ER99ESHR (870) = 446 ie Upfaring the outbound to I class also forced-repriced the same E class inbound to current high price (521-435). Is this the normal? Win some lose some etc? Thank you! |
Looking to book flights from ICN to HKG for 2 passengers:

Hopefully the correct forum/thread for this...
I am flying LHR-SFO next week on BA but crediting the points to CX. If there is a decent airport cash upgrade offer I might take it, but my question is: will the points/miles that are credited to CX reflect the underlying fare or the upgraded fare? Anyone have experience of doing this? Thanks! |
