This is CX = Hong Kong "No Money, No Talk!" Some interesting observations: I saw the inventory of PEY dropping each day closer to the flight, but some seats are open for selection. I checked again this morning and there was no availability on J and PEY. Just to add: I saw around 20 boarding passes printed on the table. Basically everyone in the business class queue (Silver/OWS or above) is either already on business class, or got a red light when scanning the boarding pass. A group of two queuing in front of me got upgraded from Y to PEY and took my original seat. |
OneWorld Ruby - HKG to SGN - was told I had been upgraded to Business when I went to drop my bags off - I had previously completed OLCI and selected an Economy seat for my Economy ticket

Quick question: If you have both BA Silver (OWS) and CX Silver, which status will you use until boarding where you switch back to the FFP to credit miles? Or is there a difference if travelling alone? Thanks!

BA Silver - you have +1 guest, non-CX lounges and +1 pc up to two.

Upgrade with Asian miles while use AA EXP FF?
I have a flight from Taipei to London via Hong Kong on CX. I am One World Emerald through AA EXP. No status with CX. Booking Fair class is “economy essential”, upgradable with Asian Miles.
I want to use my AA EXP number to access the lounge, but also use Asian Miles to upgrade to premium economy or business. What are my options? Thank you. |
Put in your Asia Miles number first to process the upgrade (if upgrade space available). Once ticket reissued, put your AAdvantage number back in.

Here is my dilemma : I plan to purchase CX economy and upgrade with miles. If I use my Asian miles number, I will earn miles on CX. Will I have access to the first class lounge with my One World Emerald from AA? ( show my status on AA app?). The other option is to get the upgrade with Asia Miles and change it back to AA. I have access to the Pier First class but I won’t earn any miles on my flight. Hope there is a way I can get CX or AA miles and access to first class lounge. |
Put in CX number for check in and show AA digital card at Pier F reception.

Anyone recently scored a successful mileage upgrade from PEY to J on MXP or CDG route? Trying to realistically gauge my chances.
I have a dilemma of booking a HKG-Europe roundtrip on EK in J for $25k HKD; or go with CX PEY R fare for $29k HKD. The EK option is attractive since it guarantees I'll fly J, the drawback is obviously the connection at DXB of about 4 hours. CX option is best for schedule but I'm absolutely sure I'll be sweating until the last second for the upgrade even if it does come through. A third option is booking QR J via Iberia for about $31k HKD with a connection via DOH (and fly Cirrus J on CX's ex-77W birds now leased to QR for the legs to/from DOH). However I'm not too keen on a midnight departure ex-HKG and afternoon arrival at CDG. |
MAD-HKG-PVG rt, was booked in E and the upgrade bid was 1013eur for MAD-HKG, called in and they offered 391eur total to upgrade to I class for MAD-HKG-PVG altogether....inventory is I9 for both flights at <48hrs before departure.
Does the call center's upgrade price adjust (downwards) as inventory remain high and time to departure decreases? If flight is stll I9 at check-in at MAD would the counter offer even an even lower price? |
