Quick question, I just called CX to use my AsiaMiles to upgrade a segment of a upcoming flight. The upgrade was confirmed and the agent told me that they would call me back to collect the tax difference, is this normal? How long does it take for them to call you back? My PNR is now showing the same flight now in business and economy.

Yes. Because Marco Polo Club which you redeemed the upgrade is not authorized to ticket. HKG Sales will call you to collect the tax amount. It can take anything within hours to 2 or 3 days.

Upgrade "Bid" Process
If you bid on an upgrade and it is successful, do you fly at the original fare class or the new fare class? Take for example a flight booked at Economy K that is upgraded to Premium Economy. Does your booking class actually change and you earn based on that, or do you just get a better seat?

I believe it’s the latter. Everything in accordance with the original booking class.

thank you! Nvm just realized I could sign up for an Expert Flyer subscription myself. :D On a related note, I'm seeing that Cathay's website is blocking off seats that are being shown as "available" on Expert Flyer (i.e., not blocked or taken). Which site should I rely on? |
For my flight every fare bucket Y and below is on 0, how come CX is still selling economy tickets? For a dummy booking they go into K or H

If I use the Asiamiles app to upgrade my flight from Y to PEY, but the flight doesn’t have PEY, will I eventually be seated in J?

if your flight has a PE cabin you can upgrade with miles from Y to PE. It should be 12000 per sector.

CX doesn't sell PY on these flights. So will I be allowed to upgrade from Y to PEY, but will I eventually be given J?
