Usagi will be close to KHH on Saturday. CX might thank you for it.

And you might want to make it early Sunday morning. Latest JTWC (US) forecasts for 70% chance of >34 knots winds by 2pm (local time) on Sun.

It doesn't have wind direction or gusts predictions, but IMHO, with the storm's forecasted location, expect gusty north westlies - plenty of crosswind "fun" there.

Called CX yesterday, and rerouted from KHH-HKG onto a TPE-HKG this morning. Flight was a little bumpy - crew managed to get drinks run and starter/dessert trays out in J before having to abandon the meal service. But they did do a champagne run after the all clear was given!

I'm on a flight late tonight. Let me know what they book for you. Flying in Biz?

No luck trying to contact CX HKG or JKT reservations. Just submitted a rebooking request form. Will try the JKT CX office tomorrow morning when they open again. Meanwhile, still trying CX HKG. :(
Economy / business, don't matter to me. Just want to get back as fast as possible.

Were you booked originally in Y or J? Did you go to the airport?

CX just confirmed me for tomorrow CX718 depart at 0820hrs via email.
Originally in Y on V class, rebooked in same.
Did not even go to the airport as I found out my flight was cancelled via text message early this morning 6am. I logged into the website, manage bookings, recalled my original booking, and clicked the rebooking submission form.
Now, have another day to enjoy Jakarta. :)

Finally an improvement due to the system upgrades.

I had my hotel call CX in Jakarta, and it only had a recording saying no flights until the 25th.

Ended up calling AA who issued my CX award, and had them switch me to JL F on Tuesday. I lose a bit over half a day, but it could be worse.

The AAgent seemed confused, and didn't even know about the Typhoon.

I've never flown JL in F, so I'll get to check off one more F service.

Total Nightmare for me...

I was originally booked on CX715 leaving tonight (22 Sep). At 12pm on 21 Sep 13, I saw the advisory notice on CX website that all flights leaving / arriving on 22 Sep after 6pm will be cancelled.

I tried to contact the HK reservation hotline and MPC hotline but not able to do so. I headed down to CX HK Office in TST and was packed with people. After a long wait, I managed to get it changed to CX739 leaving on 22 Sep 13 around 11.20am. CSO assured me that as of 2pm 21 Sep, CX739 is operating. I managed to perform online check-in.

Barely 3 hours later, I got a SMS on my HK HP informing me that CX739 is cancelled and I have to make alternative plans. I was with my friends at that time for gathering and around 7pm, I rushed down to CX ticketing office at Hong Kong In-town MTR station and a long queue was seen.

After more than a hour wait, I decided not to take any risk and picked the first flight out of Singapore - CX691 at 805am. At that time while queuing, I managed to call through MPC and they said that they will try to confirm CX691 for me as I have check-in online for CX739 and they are not able to reissue ticket. I told them that flight is cancelled and I am not able to do so online too.

I asked MPC to put a note in my booking record that should there be any changes, they can put me on any flight with any available seats. They agreed to do so. But I had requested for that to be done in SIN office when I check-in and CSO said that this is not possible.

Saving grace out of this nightmare is the excellent service in J class in CX691 on B77W.

Just checked in at hkia it's kind of mob scene, especially considering it's low season.

5 level depth check in line at normal Y and I have to wait for 10 minutes before I can drop my baggage, and that was 07:30....

A lot of mainlanders returning from the Full Moon Festival weekend?

I got back to HK from BKK - I called MPC (DM line) yesterday morning (before CX announced the 6pm cut-off) and was able to switch to an earlier flight.

to add to the drama, the captain told us there was a mechanical problem when we were on the runway waiting for take off .... after a 2 hour delay (the mechanical problem was supposedly fixed but recurred ... engineers had to board the plane a second time ....) we finally made it back! so relieved :)

Lucky you. I had to wait nearly 15 mins on the DM line this morning. First time I've had to wait for more than half a minute.

The timing of USAGI is bad with the long Full Moon weekend, as the public holiday fell on a Friday and everyone tries to get back to HK.

USAGI was heading a bit North of HK but just turned and is now heading towards HK. Seems like a real nasty Severe Typhoon unfortunately. Good luck to all travelers as flights will be overbooked when they resume on Monday.
