MNL turnaround
Hi,
I am thinking about taking advantage of the ex-MNL I fares to Japan, I am actually curious if 1h15m is enough for a turnaround in MNL (CX907 -> CX906)? And I believe I do not have to go through immigration? Thanks!

It's better if you can get your boarding pass before arriving MNL.
With boarding pass, go through a simple x-ray security check, straight up the stairs and back to the departure level, can be done in 5 minutes from the time you step off the plane.
If you don't get your boarding pass, you go to the transfer desk or ask a CX ground staff when you arrive, he/she needs to take your passport, a print-out eticket/itinerary and take them to land-side check-in desks to get your boarding pass, which can take some time.

yes - it is fine as you are going to reboard the same aircraft so no need to worry even if it is late. transfer is painless (if you have your return BP), they seem to be used to this now in HKG and proactively offer it if you are doing a turnaround.
i would definetely be asking for it before you get to MNL as it wastes time having to do it (i have had the return BP provided 5/6 times in the last 2 years).

if you are based in HK may I suggest you consider ex TPE I fares.
reasons are as follows:
1) unless u got a super cheap one ex MNL, i found TPE I fares cheaper. Also TPE ones are typically no change fees, and MNL it has change fee. Not to mention on any irregular u seriously don't want to deal with muppets at MNL telephone office
2) shorter flight time
3) more options for flights on any irregular
4) TPE nobody checks your boarding pass and it's as smooth as silk to transfer. MNL u have some dude/lady at Xray area, unless the CX staff escorts u, they could give u trouble.... I was at CGK and was asked for bribe by dodgy indonesian guy manning the transfer area at 11:45pm, not a plasent experience. you are doing a somewhat weird thing (turn arund with business class) and these guys are earning fraction of your air ticket in a month....
just my thoughts. I would only go to MNL for turnaround if I get one of those "crazy cheap promotion Asia pass" available to local residents, but otherwise stick to TPE.

Yeap, in MNL, before you reach your boarding gates, some dudes will ask you where your MNL immigration stamp is on your boarding pass. You need to tell them you are transiting, and provide your inbound boarding pass. When I said I travelled from HKG, transfer in MNL to get back to HKG, sometimes they give me weird look.
Make sure your have a printout of your ex-MNL ticket, as it is a requirement for travelling to MNL.

+1 on TPE turnaround. Transit is so smooth and hassle free! And ground staff at TPE are much nicer and efficient. One time I had an agent waited for me at the gate and handed out my return bound BP as I walked off the plane arriving from HKG. I was obviously a bit shocked. She smiled and told me 'we did our homework Mr.XXXX. We saw that you haven't had your BP issued and that's why I waited here for you! Have a safe flight back!'

At MNL you just go straight to the transfer desk, tell them you are transitting and they stamp you and off you go back upstairs. No escort is needed and usually about 5 mins.
Then you have lots of time in the "F" lounge

having done both MNL and TPE turnarounds (5+ times for both in the last 2 years), i'd definitely go for TPE.
however, if you are looking for op-up opportunities on the short flight, MNL probably has a higher op-up rate due to the high loads in Y.

Thank you for all of your inputs.
I was thinking about doing a TPE turnaround instead of a MNL turnaround; however, I found it is way cheaper to do the turnaround in MNL... I am kind of skeptical because I heard it is a bit more troublesome to do a turnaround in MNL than in TPE.
