The refresh is coming...

Today, CX announced a refresh of their website. Good to see something fresh being implemented. Hopefully, no issues after implementation!

Refreshed website on 23 June

http://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/imag...ng-page_en.jpg

We would like to seek your kind understanding while our websites and mobile sites are offline for 14 hours – from 11pm on 22 June to 1pm on 23 June (Hong Kong time). During this period, mobile boarding pass, online and mobile site services will be unavailable, so you might like to take care of any online tasks ahead of time to avoid inconvenience.

Our check-in counters will be open 3 hours before departure on 22 and 23 June so you may arrive at the airport earlier to check in. Since our mobile boarding pass service will not be available during this time, we encourage you to bring a printed copy of your eTicket or boarding pass when checking in at the airport.

We would like to assure you that all your personal and transactional data will remain safeguarded, as it always is, during and after the renovation.

At Cathay Pacific, we are always looking for ways to ensure you have the best possible travel experience. Our investment in a new IT infrastructure to meet your future online needs is just one of the ways we’re working to make your journeys smoother and more enjoyable. Refreshing the navigation and appearance of our website is just the first step, with more enhancements to come. We’d like to share a sneak preview …

Call me what you want, but I am scared...'Refresh' is the word that SQ used back in May 2011..and the rest is history- one that is still in the making!

back then:
"We will soon refresh singaporeair.com to offer streamlined....."

sxc Jun 5, 2013 5:47 am

I hope we can now book awards on Oneworld partners online.

GE90-115B Jun 5, 2013 6:30 am

Please bring back the upgrade function on the website ^

JALPak Jun 5, 2013 8:45 am

Brought back memories of what they did last time the site were offline for an extended period of time. I have no idea why refresh like this requires an extended offline period nowadays

Hemel Jun 5, 2013 10:35 am

Agreed. I'm sure we can all remember what a mess it was last time.

Here's hoping to CX IT & UAT doing their due diligence and being prepared for any post implementation support!

14 hours to roll the new site to production. this is not very competent IT

Underpromise - overdeliver?

BOAC70 Jun 5, 2013 4:13 pm

Will they fix the "feature" whereby we have to re-enter passport and other details during OLCI (and seemingly non-functioning save profile checkbox)???

peasant Jun 5, 2013 6:35 pm

My understanding is that it isn't just a site refresh, it is both a refresh and moving to a new technology stack.

midlevels Jun 5, 2013 7:18 pm

So after this is done, will there be any more parts of CX still running on the legacy system?

+1 ^

Please let the new website recognise other airline OW status so i don't need to fill in my passport details every time I fly/call up when I want to select a seat on a cheapskate fare^

ajhira Jun 5, 2013 10:36 pm

What they REALLY need to do is refresh their iOS app... that really stinks... and they could add a Passbook app for your marco polo card as well as mobile boarding passes like AA does - AA has done a good job with passbook implementation...

BA also has passbook integration as well - as part of an iOS app that's a real app, not a useless website wrapper like CX Mobile.

Kachjc Jun 6, 2013 12:12 am

In terms of design and how the pages are organised/easy to see I like the old website- this one is like every other airlines website- and the drop down lists etc appear to be less clear- also the front page looks really cluttered!!-

kaka Jun 6, 2013 1:40 am

no mobile MPC is annoying. i always have to show the asiamiles version and have them verify!

The present one is a joke... Its just a full screen of CX.com without any mobile phone friendly alternation

At least the full screen version is perfectly usable on an iPhone, now that the Amadeus adoption issues have been smoothed out.

I have little faith in airline website refreshes. Well we have ba.com to look up availability if we need it. I use a TA when I need to book a revenue ticket anyway.

JeCCo Jun 6, 2013 5:22 am

Really hope the new website does not end up like the 'new' SQ one....

My vote goes for more simplicity, less clutter

agreed- the preview already looks very cluttered

Kachjc Jun 6, 2013 5:56 am

Simplicity is the trick for websites, not clutter the front page with bunch of information. CX preview pics seems to be going backwards... CX should really rethink who their current IT carrier are, because they are messing every and all things up for CX.

davko Jun 9, 2013 9:55 pm

I agree with ajhira, the IOS app sucks. It's slow, you have to log in everytime. CX needs to kick their IT up a notch.

Anyone else noticing that the existing website seems to be in a state of collapse now, perhaps ahead of the refresh? Suddenly, big chunks of it don't display correctly and it takes forever to load (this is over several days, and on a couple different computers, so I don't think it's just me).

Yes, also found it very laggy and difficult to bring up seat maps. Gave up this morning and will try later.

Agree - the timeliness and functionality of the website has really gone to the pits.

Reverted to just calling MPC to sort out my travel plans

KeepDiscovering Jun 10, 2013 10:54 pm

By the look of these few screen shots of the new website, I do not see it being more cluttered than the existing one. The current website has lots of icons and links, especially at the bottom half of the front page where promotions and announcements are displayed. It looks improved in this aspect.

What I also like about the new front page (based on what I can see now) is that one can access manage booking directly w/o the need to click on any links. Less navigation is better.

Also like the branding image more standing out in the middle. Just hope that the images will not be overpowering like EK, NZ or QR.

you are right now that I have looked at them for longer

another think I like is the Cathay green- no other airline has such a cool colour and it is a perfect contrast to the red!

CanucksHKG Jun 16, 2013 6:52 pm

Anyone else having problem logging onto the website?

Unlike the past.....this time it just tells you your password is incorrect.
Tried with a few other family member's account, and they all come up with the same message.

I'm 250% sure the pin is correct....
It was even fine 2-3 hours ago.

percysmith Jun 16, 2013 8:27 pm

Works fine now, maybe server playing up a couple of hours ago - when server plays up logins don't work.

Works right now - had the same 'incorrect PIN' problem once over the weekend..

CanucksHKG Jun 16, 2013 10:05 pm

Just gave it a try...still not working.

RevJim Jun 16, 2013 10:32 pm

Same here Canucks, can't login for a few hours now...

sxc Jun 17, 2013 12:08 am

Not working for me.

fairhsa Jun 17, 2013 12:53 am

I was fine this morning, then just now can't get back in. Really irritating. I note from their many emails that they are going to "upgrade" the server this weekend - which is Cathay-speak for "if you thought it was bad now, wait until then!"

CanucksHKG Jun 17, 2013 3:56 am

10 hours later, I can finally log in...

sxc Jun 17, 2013 7:44 pm

Still not working for me.
