I realized the mileage bonus is a great feature of AA Plat + the 500 mile upgardes. I don't think we will fly enough to get that many upgrade certificates this year.... maybe 30,000 miles in Economy most of the time.

$200 travel charge OK for AA upgrades?

Thanks Gary. Never thought about $200 incident to by AA 500 upgrade. This would work?

I think Gary (SFO-based) is talking about US' AMEX $200 incident credit

while in Canada we get $200 credit to book via AMEX PTS, so I don't think you can purchase any airlines upgrades/extras, unless AMEX PTS can do it

Too bad....that would have been a no brainer. Too bad we don't get a credit vs having to book through PTS.

Personally, I will prefer $200 from PTS rather than incidental.

not exactly a status match but 1 biz flight can qualify you to *Gold with Aegen airlines's program.

so this shows you how you have to bank an ordinary long-haul flight in J to Aegen's program and you get a *Gold with ease...
