Absolutely. Ok, on CX he'd need H,B,Y class to earn miles but he can book on any BA fare and earn full miles. Plus the bonus when he gets his Plat card thru the challenge mentioned above.

Yes he needs 4 sectors on AA, but that is quite doable from LHR if he goes to USA..

Best of all, unlike Asia Miles, his miles won't expire as long as there is some activity in his account each year.
