Lounge access in YVR?

I see differing reports on whether YVR-JFK passengers can access the CX lounge (when originating in YVR). As a business class passenger, I know I'm entitled to access, but some indicate that, because the U.S.-bound part of the terminal is segregated, there's no way physically to access the space. True or false? Thanks!

The YVR-JFK leg uses the regular International Terminal at YVR (usually gate D73), since it's after the US Pre-clearance section closes (and it would be a hassle if all transiting passengers had to get their luggage, go through US customs, and re-check their luggage in Vancouver). So yes, you can access the lounge.

That's not the point...

US Pre-clearance section does not 'close'. US bound flights are operated right through the day. But YVR-JFK flight does not pre-clear US customs and thus you have access to lounge in the main International Departure hall. Its located right after security, talk the lift to the 2nd or 3rd floor I think.

Correct, as soon as you get through security, the elevator is to the left, duty free and all the boarding gates are to the right.

Last time I got off CX888, I looked over to the US side and all the lights were off, stores closed, and not a single person was to be seen.
