Check-in at SIN

Scheduled to fly on CX 716 but wanted to know if the 3 hour check-in time prior to your flight is enforced.

Wouldn't mind extra time roaming the airport to enjoy it as I remembered some interesting things about Changi from years back. Thank you FTers!

So long as the flight is departing within the same day, you can check in early to collect BP and deposit your luggage. I have done that before in the past. Information is also provided in Changi Airport website as well:

Have fun shopping at Changi Airport.

Simply turn up to row 1 in T1 when it's open. Just a couple of days ago, I checked in for CX714 (1:15am departure) at 7:20pm.

Other posters already answered you. But the general rule of thumb is that as long as the airline has a good presence at the airport (CX certainly do at SIN), you can check-in very early. I've done early check-in at airports a day in advance, because I don't want to drag a couple of luggage with me around town. This is true both in USA, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. I have never had a significant airline turned me down for real early check-in.

Last month at LHR, around 1000, check in desk wouldn't allow pax ahead of me to check in for evening flight back to HKG - said that there was nowhere to store their bags before earlier flights departed

Geez, I've heard bad stories about LHR, well, I guess I shouldn't be surprise based on how busy they are. But seriously, 10 a.m. the same day? Even JFK/ORD let's me half-a-day early.

I thought ORD only has 1 flight per day. For LHR it is not bad stories as there r space constraints and even BA enforce similar rules ( in their own home hub)
