STPC Possibility?
Dear All:
I'm soon traveling on the following itinerary:
12 Sep 2012 CX825 YYZ HKG Dep:15:30 Arr:18:12+1
14 Sep 2012 CX6732 HKG DAC Dep:18:20+2 Arr:20:20+2
So I will have to stay over at HKG for 24+ hours. Does this qualify for STPC? There's no flight to DAC on OW network prior to the CX6732/14Sep. Btw, not sure if it's relevant, I am a lowly MPC SL.
Technically I could have taken the CX829 out of YYZ on 13 Sep at 1:30am (still the night of 12 Sep) and reduce my transit time to around 12 hours (as opposed to the 24 hours in above schedule).

I recently bought a similar fare (with an overnight layover in HKG). I just bought it off the CX website without even realizing there was a layover. I ran a fare search and clicked the first or second available routing from their list and bought it.
I'm an MPO SL also. I called everyone I could think of and begged and they refused to cover it as an STPC. I'd like to hear it if anyone has any tips on this.
I ended up paying for a night at the Regal airport hotel, it wasn't bad at all.

I don't really know about CX's STPC rule, but since this is the case I don't think there is any chance CX will give you STPC. You are an SL so you have the lounges at your disposal if you take CX829 either on 12SEP or 13SEP.

Reservations (or your TA) would tell you if you qualify for a STPC. Generally they would only give it to you when every flight you can take misconnects to your ongoing flight.. which in this case, if you fly one day later, your connection is shorter, then I doubt a STPC would suffice.
