Flight Change Question
Taking a trip to SIN in September. Trying to maintain AA Plt so booking a codeshare on CX metal. The shortest connection on AA.com is 12 hours, if I could take an earlier flight it would help me not need an extra day in SIN (dont want to go so trying to minimize time away from home). Will CX allow me to move to an earlier flight if there is space available?

If you book into a sufficiently high fare class, you can earn EQM on CX-coded flights. Maybe that would be easier than trying to do international standby?

But note that if OP standby on earlier flight, the code of the flight he flew will became CX coded (even permitted) and may serious affect OP's miles accrued.
My recommendation is don't touch it ..... unless OP already flying in high enough subclass that CX code won't affect it.

I appreciate the replies, I will not cry over one of the segments from HKG-SIN not crediting as it only has an effect on the outbound as the flights home are well timed for my needs, but to be able to pick up 6-7 hours on the ground in SIN will help me to need one less day away from home. But OTOH the 12 hour layover in HKG will allow for a quick trip into town for some dim sum and a nice stretch of the legs before the relatively quick hop to SIN.
