Oneworld AA flight operated by AS

Quick question - The flight is sold by AA. Do I get CX club miles out of it?

1. My past experience in 2010 is yes, and I believe there are more recent reports on this forum that indicates the same, but it is more of a system glitche and CX / AA has can chage it anytime.
2. Just to clarify - however, an OW-marketed FLT operated by a non-OW member is NOT a OW FLT, so these AA-coded AS FLTs are not considered OW FLTs. You can only get MPO miles / sectors when booked on a FLT marketed and operated by OW (except CX-coded non-OW FLTs, KA-coded CA FLTs, and in reality AA-coded AS FLTs).

I had to submit a missing miles request form, but I was eventually awarded club and asia miles for my AA-coded/AS-operated SEA-FAI r/t flights last August, so yes, it is possible.

This somehow was always the big exception and its even noted on the Asia Miles Page

1 BIG Reminder to the OP, whatever you do, make sure you do not purchased a U class upgrade on AS the day of travel.
You will not get credited the Club Miles if you do so, I guaranteed that.
I don't remember about asia miles however, its been awhile since i've had one of those

^^^^ - I think this is an important concept that we should always keep in mind - it doesn't necessarily mean that you will get Club Miles if you pay for a more expensive/higher subclass ticket!

I know it's OT but I have some hard lessons learnt from taking business subclass "I" with LAN (Sydney-Santiago). It has been always my assumption that a business class ticket should "certainly" give me club miles/sectors ‘cos it's much more expensive than the Economy ones - I just didn't know "I" was not eligible for Asia Miles accrual until I finished the trip and couldn't find the expected 19,000 some club miles after 2 months. Yes that was such a pain to me because I was struggling to fly 60,000 club miles a year to qualify as GO, and this trip could (if eligible as I thought) make up more than 30% of it.

So please do check Asia Miles/MPC rules before your purchase – also do remember that MPC “Your link to oneworld” page doesn’t list eligible business class codes for partner airlines. You have to check with Asia Miles websites for that.

Yes no doubt it earns AM, but there is never an official note about whether it earns MPO miles / sectors. That's why I consider it a loophole that could be "fixed" anytime.

Well the reason I know why AS U Class doesn't credit before its because I've gotten burn before

AA code/AS metal has only been an odd subject with Asia Miles, just because AA has so few flight on the west coast so AS does the rest.

More info to the OP.
Let say buy a AA Q class which credits 100%
If you somehow get irrop your original flight and need to be rebooked, It Will credit as AS code so No Club Miles.
If you get a elite or buy an upgrade on AS so it changes to U class, it will credit as AS code so No Club Miles

So you better hope nothing happens @:-)

Not necessarily and I'll explain why, the bolded section on the notes miles earns as codeshare flights operated by Alaska, but that info is from the earn page on AA not AS.

I know if I do other codeshares on other airlines, they don't earn club miles.
AA code/AS metal already seems to be the BIG expection, but of course better hope nothing goes wrong on your trip

In this case one can still ask it to be credit as an AA FLT, as according to http://www.asiamiles.com/am/en/site/terms#6,

2.If a member's air travel is disrupted due to reasons beyond the control of CPA or an airline partner (for example, extreme weather conditions/acts of God) and the member is forced to change carrier, mileage credits on the disrupted segments of the purchased ticket will only be credited to the original itinerary.
provided that your statement below is indeed legally valid.

I know it appears on the AA page, but, hey, this is AM website and nowhere does the AM website talks about accruing MPO miles / sectors. On CX's website it mentions that one can earn MPO miles / sectors on AA FLTs, but there is no mention regarding AS codeshare. In fact, AM and MPO are now run by separate entities. Do you see why I consider this a "loophole" instead of a mere "exception"?

I had enquired CX MPC about mileage credit on AA code flight operated by CX from HKG to NRT, booking class is Q. Which I guess should earn club miles to MPC but the agent said cannot since Q class doesn't earn miles on CX. I really have doubt on this since it is mentioned that Q class on AA should have mileage accrual.

Does anyone have any clue?

Let me guess, you booked a HKG-NRT- [US flight] and NRT-[US] is on AA hence the AA Q code/CX metal.

I wish I could answer this question better but at minimum,
your HKG-NRT can credit on AA and it will post 100%, I know that.
Your HKG-NRT probably shows up on CX as a Q/N/S fare most likely right?

So maybe post the long leg on CX, as that would work for sure
and post the short one to AA if you want to make sure to get something out of it.
I used this for my commute abit, helps with the EXP requal too

The agent is wrong. In OW, the marketing carrier's booking class matters.
