Seating Blocking in F?

F seat assignment can change. I was once booked in 1A and when I checked-in for the flight at HKG Central, they told me 1A was already taken and they offered me another seat.

Booked HKG-LAX in F last week using AA miles. I could only select 2D online. Called today and was told that I was the only person book in F cabin currently! Asked agent for 1A with no problem.

Is this something after Feb.? I have noticed that CX's new system (Amadeus) has bugs in seat assignments. Sometimes advanced seat reservation are shown as confirmed in the PNR, but the actual seat is not taken (not shown as occupied in seat map display). Sometimes it was itinially taken yet later released without any note in the PNR.
