773 Y class seating question

Hi everyone,

I'm taking a flight from HKG - KUL on a 773 (regional two class) in Y class. I would like a window seat, and have a choice of row 30 (e.g. 30A bulkead) or row 36 (A or K).

On seatexpert, it says that row 36 has obstructed views, but seatguru doesn't mention that.

Any thoughts on which seat is preferable? I'm travelling alone. Is 30A bothersome as it's near the lavatory?

I've tried searching for this info but can't find any pertinent info.

Many thanks in advance!

I would take 30A. Its legroom isn't that bad (but not great either) for a bulkhead, and there's no one to recline into your face.

Thanks jumbojet. Don't the regional 773s have the fixed-backed shell Olympus seats? In which case reclining seats wouldn't be an issue.

Can anyone else confirm if row 36 has obstructed window views?

I often fly between HKG - KUL prior to the start of the red eye flight and always preferred row 30A or 30K. It has sufficient leg space and the seating the regular reclining seats and not those Olympus seating. You could be lucky if they upgrade the equipment to a 77W. It had happen to me 2 weeks ago. Flew on B-KQA (newly delivered back in April, 2012)

@dato terimakasih for your feedback! I will choose 30A then. The flight is at 4:15pm -- let's hope they do indeed upgrade to a 77W.

CX729 is pretty much set for the 773. I have never seen anything but a 773 on 729/720; you're more likely to see long-haul aircraft on other flights to KUL.

@sonusfaber sama sama.. Let's hope you'll be lucky to get the 77W.. But don't go hoping for an upgrade to premium economy.. They didn't open it up on my last flight..

@jumbojet19920711 Ya, I do agree it's pretty much set for 773 but there are instances that they do make some exception.. Last time I saw them using a A343 and in my case the 77W.. so I guess it's on your luck and the frequency you fly between KUL-HKG vv
