Talking Cathay pacific J class.

Flying SYD - LHR via HKG with 3 adults and 2 children
I've heard some rumors that children aren't allowed on the upper deck of the 747 is this true?.

Also wanting to know what the standard of food is like on cathay?

Thanks

Not true at all. Children are allowed on the upper deck.

For meals - look at this thread - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...xperience.html

Look up J class and your flight number and you will have a rough idea of what you might be served. Basically you will have at least a couple of western choices and a couple of asian (Chinese) ones for your main courses.

Cathay Pacific generally doesn't give children operational (free) upgrades to business or first class. That's probably what you are thinking of. So if an elite passenger traveling with a small child is selected for an op-up, CX will pass over them (unless the passenger can leave the child behind with a spouse, for instance).

But if you are paying for a child seat in business? No problem at all, bring as many as you want.

Subject to the size of the business class cabin and your credit card limit.

There are no children allowed on the upper deck on the HKG-SYD leg.

I thought there is no upper deck for HKG-SYD? As it's an A333?

I wouldn't want to be on the "upper deck" on that flight either... it's going to be a little windy and chilly...

Anyway, on the 747, there are no bassinet positions on the upper deck, so if these are needed, you'll have to be on the main deck.

Maybe, but for the last 2 years I have never heard of anyone taking a 747 from HKG-SYD... If anyone has I would be surprised.

I think they have some 74F flying there so in that case you would only want to fly upper deck LOL
