New Studio CX interface

Flew SYD-HKG in J on a new A330 yesterday and had my first experience with the new Studio CX interface. I suspect that the infamous CX IT guys may have had something to do with in because it’s counter intuitive and clunky. Not to mention I had to move seats since I was having problems with the remote. Don’t know why they had to change the interface – I’d much rather they spent their time trying to fix the problems with the Amadeus migration rather than fiddling with the IFE. The old interface wasn’t broken so I don’t know why they had to change it.

I think because the guys in the back is using a touchscreen and hence need a new interface ... but ya I agree if it's not broken don't touch it.

Agreed - the old one was much superior. The new one is very frustrating in that it regularly defaults back to the top-level introductory menu when all you want to do is return to the previous sub-menu.

Looks nicer, but less user friendly.

have had it on 3-4 flights now, and find it a step backwards in usability.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Studio CX is the Panasonix eX2 IFE system so I suspect this is a Panasonic upgrade. Can't see CX doing this inhouse.

I thought that previous IFE was also eX2. Anyway, even if it was a "upgrade" CX could have tailor made the software and UI for a better user-friendly design. Definitely agree that it's a backwards step, doesn't look much more pretty IMO.
