System upgrade progress.

looks like all inventory has been pulled from consolidators.

CX828 Feb 10, 2012 11:13 pm

What do you mean by that?

Btw it seems the CX website is still up. I had imagined it not even being accessible. You can still click on many features, seems like nothing is even going on.

sinecure Feb 10, 2012 11:18 pm

Expedia & travelocity searches result in no results.

roquejo Feb 10, 2012 11:47 pm

CX booking is now offline:

Due to internal system error, you are unable to proceed further with this booking. Please close all open browser windows and try again

jetsetter1k Feb 11, 2012 12:59 am

Now we have to just sit back and see if they can get the new system back up online by 8pm Sunday night.

marcusnugg Feb 11, 2012 4:07 am

maybe we'll even be surprised with a new website...or is that wishful thinking?

moa999 Feb 11, 2012 5:07 am

expertflyer showing flights but no seat availability

Tnian Feb 11, 2012 7:01 am

Playing around with the Asia Miles website and saw this:
"Only fare classes W, R and E on Cathay Pacific are eligible for Premium Economy to Business Class Upgrade Awards."

but it still says YCL can upgrade to JCL with YBHK, i'm assuming this will go away soon though

Beazablah Feb 11, 2012 7:25 am

Im traveling in F to Hong Kong on tuesday with an AA redemption. I wonder if American will be notified of any locator changes and they in turn will notify us?

Try the flight award finder on AM website. Round trip HKG-SYD require 50,000 miles to upgrade from Premium Economy to J and Y-J upgrade remain 50,000 miles...

Now when I try to select Y to W or W to J upgrade, it tells me "Your specified itinerary is not eligible for Asia Miles awards or oneworld awards." By the way, it is weird that the Y to W option is only available for round-trip, not one way. I hope they will keep the Y to J upgrade, though, as that is what I mainly use my miles for.

ernestnywang Feb 11, 2012 11:00 am

In addition, I also saw AB in Airline Partners Awards Chart, although the partnet page does not have it, yet. Since the chart does not have AB for OW award, I wonder if that means that AB will become a AM partner before joining OW.

ernestnywang Feb 11, 2012 11:11 am

I think as of now the old CUPID PNRs have been migrated to 1A. I booked a dummy booking that includes both CX and BA (who uses 1A) sectors through abacus before the migration begins. Now I can see the old CUPID record locator has been incorporated into the 1A PNR (from checkmytrip.com), which was not incorporated before the PSS migration.

sinecure Feb 11, 2012 11:53 am

On Facebook they are telling people with urgent travel needs to book with a partner.

Cathay Pacific Airways 國泰航空 Hi Tim, due to the system upgrade, reservations will not be available till 2000 HKT 12Feb. We advise you to book with one of our OneWorld partners for urgent travel. Thanks!

It's on the partner page at the bottom corner. (Not in alphabetical order)

Call centres are up and making bookings, web site not yet

CX828 Feb 11, 2012 7:19 pm

Good to see progress is being made according to plan. Hopefully website and all features will be up and running normally by this evening.

Thanks for that. I accessed the Traditional Chinese version and (as of now) it is not there (yet).

CX HK Feb 11, 2012 9:17 pm

Cathay website back up with some functions working:

Systems upgrade in progress – some website functionality is unavailable

Cathay Pacific and Dragonair are upgrading our reservation systems in order to ensure that we keep pace with our passengers’ future travel requirements. We are currently bringing the Web site back up in stages over the next several hours. Currently flight schedules and flight status are available. Mobile site, Online flight bookings, Manage My Booking, Online Check-In and Frequent Flyer Account access are currently unavailable.

Please check back later for further updates.

JALPak Feb 11, 2012 9:42 pm

Checked the schedule of some flights, it now shows exactly which aircraft type instead of saying it varies (EQV?) :)

Central90210 Feb 11, 2012 9:47 pm

Hong Kong - Toronto on Y+ is around 19k to 32k, with no rebooking fee and 12 months of maximum stay, not too bad.

Search is still not working for me - any price range from JFK-HKG roundtrip?

BTW, this may be interesting to some:

Booking Tips: For Cathay Pacific and Dragonair Economy Class, only fare classes “Y, B, H, K, M, L” and “V” are eligible for earning Asia Miles, except Dragonair codeshare flights not operated by Cathay Pacific or Air China. For Cathay Pacific Premium Economy Class, only fare classes W, R and E are eligible for earning Asia Miles.

For Cathay Pacific and Dragonair Upgrade Awards, only fare classes “Y, B, H” and “K” are eligible for Economy to Business Class Upgrade Award ; fare classes W, R and E on Cathay Pacific are eligible for Premium Economy to Business Class Upgrade Award; and fare classes “J, C, D” and “I” are eligible for Business to First Class Upgrade Award. Codeshare flights are not eligible.

I can't quite go through with a JFK booking, but if I were a betting man, I'd say Y+ prices will be consistent with YYZ prices.

hadsst Feb 11, 2012 10:00 pm

A dummy W class booking for HKG-LHR ($17K HKD + taxes) shows that it earns 110% AM.

zzz997 Feb 11, 2012 10:04 pm

Ok, PE is now available for booking.

HKG-SYD round trip start from about HK$15000+tax. This is the PE Standard fare R class. The PE standard contain with the mix of W & R class.

The trip earn 10% bonus miles...

fakecd Feb 11, 2012 10:04 pm

HK-SYD ranges 18k to 23k all in for "standard" Y+. Again why any monkey on this planet pays for this whilst ex TEP I-class is 16k all in is beyond my comprehension (well I guess majority of lucrative travellers don't really care). 10% bonus miles accural on Y+ as rumor was going. Funny enough to REDEEM Y+, you need to use 20% extra.

Airbus 333 map showing 2-3-2 abrest.

Assuming 40% discount for sale fare on Y+ that brings it down to 11k. For HK-SYD I'm a seller but I might take this for HK-YYZ

We haven't seen any 'E' fares yet though. PE fares for QF are from HKD10880 + tax, so I expect CX will eventually offer something similar.

Same for LHR when BA is offering PE at $9880 + tax.

CX booked fares now showing up on the Qantas My Booking page with Amadeus reference numbers...
Only letting me select seats for first leg (of a TPE-HKG-CTS-HKG-TPE booking in J) although seatmap looks very empty (although expertflyer not much fuller)

Class loadings also appear to be working again on expertflyer.

Still can't access CX manage bookings as a non-member.

In fact as of now the reservation system does not even have E class shown as of now.

sxc Feb 12, 2012 12:04 am

I hope the pricing of PE will be revised and what we are seeing is just because they haven't loaded better pricing after the upgrade. Otherwise CX has priced the self out of the market or they are going to have an amazing product (not likely).

HKG to SYD doesn't show 33G/33E/33B, only 333:

I noticed two changes on Expert Flyer: F class now showing F6 as max instead of F4 on the 777 and up to F9 on the 747.
Also showing P for "Premium only" seats -- I assume that me OW Ruby or higher?

tomsumatra Feb 12, 2012 6:32 am

I've just found something interesting. It shows on Expertflyer seat 92A on a 74K will be a Premium Economy/Economy seat?!
If you make a dummy booking into PE you can see the button let you chose UD but you can't really see/chose that seat.
That means 92A will be a single PE seat on UD? That's really...:D

Manage My Booking now out till 8pm on the 13th.
Timetable slipping?

Awesom Andy Feb 12, 2012 7:32 am

Just a quick update here... flew CX711 HKG-SIN this afternoon, and it doesn't look like there were any negative effects due to the upgrade apart from the website being down. Check-in at the airport was smooth (at the J counters, at least), and, to most pax, they probably wouldn't have noticed anything if they didn't go to the website.

On a side note, the coffee at the refurbished Wing is not bad at all.

Does CX have a major problem in migrating the booking record? They decided to extend another 1.5 days, and now, they announced that it is closed until further notice.

Hmmm hope they open it soon... its annoying not having it available. At Least online check-in is available.

Has anyone done OLCI post sysytem upgrade? Any changes to it?
