Thanks guys for the suggestions. If a tour group I wonder how 44 sets of data could be entered in the time it took me to do just one? Anyway, just curious, thanks.

Because that is done prior to T-48.

44
maybe it was a hint

If BN doesn't matter, then how does CX decide who gets op-up priority for passengers of the same tier?

ie: booking system randomly picks the lucky ones like a lottery?

As I've mentioned before, my sources say that BN doesn't play a part in upgrades.

This is what we all want to know... don't think we ever will have one, solid conclusion though.

Nope....simply not true. If your first sector is 48 hours out, and the second one is say 52 hours out (or any amount over 48 hours), even if it's on the same itinerary only the first flight is available for OLCI. Each sector must be 48 hours out or less.

Not true as I did check in 2 sectors + 48 for the 2nd sectors. Sometimes they lock it but sometimes not also it is not always 48+ hours before a flight hence there may be people who check in before u

I do not know about other airlines, but CX would not let you do that if you are OLCIing for a CX or KA FLT.

I done plenty of BN 1 for me and my extended family who travel. I can say it does absolutely nothing about getting an op-up....

Are you sure? No offense, but I'm still pretty skeptical. Because if so, this is the first time I've ever heard of someone ever being able to do it. In maybe 30-40 itineraries with connected CX/KA segments in the last few years (including two connected segments a few weeks back where I indeed tried), not once have I been allowed to check-in before 48 hours.

Count me in with being skeptical despite having them under the same booking, they will only allow you to check in for the flight.

I was told it was based on number of years as a member.

traveler18 Jan 26, 2012 10:29 am

I have been told by CX airport managers and even by Wing staff that BN does matter in equal circumstances, but a passenger with a higher BN may still have preference such number of years Diamond or MP, a milestone (miles or years), a problem caused by CX (luggage, downgrade, delay).

What I wander is if they only have to bump up 1 passenger for overselling - but there are two or three Diamonds and several available higher class seats, will they upgrade all of them. I have seen in the MNL-HKG segment where they start upgrading several Diamonds from Y to C - and seats are still available in Y

Can anyone help?
I'm GO & I'll fly J on CX289 8Feb w BN#1. Tried to up-grade F by using mileage but still in wait-listed.
I checked Y (O/N) & J (D) seats still available on cx.com.
Anyone can tell my op-up chance? Also return on 15Feb CX288 if low BN#.

Thx hemz88!
Just called MPC, no F redemption ava. on 8Feb CX289 & my waitlisted deadline was due yesterday & the agent deleted it & remain the return flight waitlisted only.
It seems not many chance in F as there are lots J & Y, or I'll go early at the airport to redeem at the counter.
