CX838 - Seat selection help

Need some help with seat selection from HK to YVR. Online seat selection shows 44B as "extra legroom" seat, but 44A is not. Is this a matter of the door parts sticking out a bit? I usually prefer window, but a 6'2" I'd much rather have more legroom.

This is part of a 26,000 itinerary that will push me to Gold, JFK - HK - SYD - HK - YVR - JFK in 9 days.. My usual Oct trip was cancelled so I'm a month behind, but not too bad. I will end up 195 miles short of Gold, but the kind folks at MPC said that they would credit me and bump me to Gold at the end of my trip.

Thanks in advance for any help...

BN

that is exactly right. this photo doesn't really show the legroom very well but you can see the armrest relative to where the door sticks out -- http://goo.gl/lntH7. it is cruel in that only your left leg is blocked from extending but your right one isn't. i would estimate your left leg gets the usual economy class legroom.

go with 44B/C/H/J or you will be jealous of your neighbor's legroom the whole flight.

I usually go with 44C/H on the 74A in Y. Some are bothered by people kicking/stepping on their feet while in line for the lav, but I don't mind all that much.

Thanks for the quick and awesome reply folks, this is why I love this forum.
Ok, I think I've sat at a similar sets before, I just have to balance leg room, with the window sets that I prefer for sleeping.

Marcus, it seems like you are a bit of an expert on this flight, do you have any other suggestions on a choice sets?

Thanks much,BN

On a recent long haul flight on the 74A, I was very happy with my seat 44G (bassinet). Preferred it over 44 C/H (chances of passengers waiting in front of you).
