It would have been great if they had put them on their regional Fleet. The seats are not that old, and it would be a big improvement on Regional J, without spending too much money. I guess though, they will just throw them away and recycle materials etc...

It would not make sense capacity-wise to put them on the regional fleet. For example, a 330 has 44 J seats between Doors 1 and 2; a 33B can only fit 30.

That being said, I would have liked to see them recycle their old long-haul J seats for regionals, with modifications so that they can only recline into the Z position!

Wait, I thought the regional J seats (or old, old, old, old long haul J seats) were going to become the new premium economy seats in long haul aircraft.

I would suggest that they will just use the old seats to replace some broken seats on the 74A and A34B if needed. Lets say a 74A has a broken seat that is not worth fixing, they will just grab a 77A seat and just transfer over. Same goes for the A33B to A34B. Cheers

And thats exactly why they didnt! Capacity issues. They should really think about bringing in a new Regional J, I think SQ has a recently new one which looks quite good.

Not to mention that if passengers didn't like the herringbone seats for long haul flights what would make them like them any better for regional ones? At least on the long haul the confines problem of the herringbone was mitigated in bed mode.

I heard ages ago that a RFP had gone out and been tendered, so I don't know why it's taking so long. Maybe Product have been directed to concentrate on the new J (now rolling out) and the new Y+ which is delaying things on the regional front.

Hmm interesting responses, though I do agree a new regional J is a must I very much dislike the old recliners and easily would prefer something new* as in new not washed up new.

Regarding the regional seats, I don't even have a clue why the hell they did not finish the retrofitting of the NRBC on older a/c. And it looks like they stopped. As far as a regional seat revamp, no need for CX to go fancy. Maybe just a simple regional J and Y class seating like SQ will do just fine. I have never been on SQ, but by the looks of the pictures, looks simple but nice.
