I am based in US and am considering to switch to AAdvantage for the better earn/burn rate. I have a question about my benefits during the transition period. Will I still have CX lounge privilege if I credit my miles to AAdvantage rather than MPC?

I am currently a CX Gold/OW Sapphire and a nobody with AAdvantage. My routes are mainly between North America to HKG.

Just show your MPC card for lounge access.

Just plan your switch in such a way that you maintain lounge access while building status at AA

Your MPC card is good for up to one year, and as long as the card is good all the benefits on that tier applies to you, just bring your card like Guy says.

Then, hopefully, a year later, you are AA Platinum and as OW Sapphire you can have lounge access.

AA Plat however only gets you lounge access outside USA.

Which makes non-AA Sapphire status worth the cost of AC membership (circa USD 300 per year). CX status has some advantages over AA even for earn/burn, so it isn't a simple choice. I've gone with QF+AA as the Emerald solution best for me. CX has improved with DMP benefits since then and I might switch to CX.

To be more accurate, AA Plat member can get lounge access inside USA too - for "international" and certain transcontinental itineraries.

May you elaborate please? I am very interested to know this. The rule-of-thumb is always AA has great earn/burn (crazy bonus miles, low redemption requirements, etc.) but CX FFP has better perks. What are some CX earn/burn advantages over AA? Thanks.
