Can you upgrade with CX miles while still crediting the flight to another program?

Can you upgrade with CX miles while still crediting the flight to another program?

Am interested in upgrading with CX miles while still crediting the flight to AA. Is this possible?

Yes, you will earn AA miles based on original paid booking class. Some upgradeable booking classes on CX don't earn AA miles.

I've done it.
IIRC, I had to wait until (online) check-in to put in my AAdvantage number.
