TPE CX First Class Lounge

Wow, what a disappointment. The only distinctiveness is that it's separated by glass doors and there is no one inside but me, but other than that it's a big disappointment.

The drink selections are less and they don't make up the lack of quantity with higher quality. No one to assist me (like CX First in HKG) and no restroom of its own. Basically if I wanted food (noodles) or go to the restroom I had to walk all the way out....

Gotta say, something more can be done here....

(as I type some big fat Caucasian just came in yelling for service, what a schmuck..)

Indeed, as a hub for CX, it is quite a disappointment when compared to some of the other outports.

SIN is even worse, the Skyview lounge doesn't even have separate F/J sections, IIRC.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Well at least ou get canned cokes instead of coke machine, and nicer wine.

I think TPE is getting new terminal and CX probably will move to there. It may not make sense to change but should just wait. I been to the EVA lounge that dragonair is using and IMO the whole experience at T2 is much much nicer.

I've never use EVA's Premium Laurel lounge (I'm assuming that's what you're referring to), but their J lounge is a sad joke for a lounge. And for some reason I never like T2, I think they really messed it up for a "newer and better" terminal. I have high hopes for the facelift at T1, and I think after the facelift T1 will be a much better terminal than T2.

What happened to the talk of a T3? I happened 7 years ago and now it's dead. What about President Ma's policy of an "Airport City?"

Was in YVR F lounge a week ago or so. Same thing all around, including me behind the glass. Same alcohol choices as the J lounge. Food in both was non-existent other than a few dumplings, an individual salad under saran wrap and some nuts and cookies.

Same as what my parents told me from earlier in the year,
No or little enhancement between F & J lounge
At least you had a relatively empty lounge, they had it when the place was packed including F

If you think the TPE CX F lounge a disappointment, you should try the ICN one (but my last time there was about 3-4 years ago). You will feel very good about the TPE F lounge - at least there is a "door".

Yep, can't be worse than CX F lounge in MNL... The entire lounge (incl. J) doesn't have ANY toilets. You need to leave the lounge for that and go to the public ones... They furthermore put some tacky music on which was louder in F than in J part, which was very annoying for conf call so that I had to move to J - that was in March this year... But no complaints about service though, it's just the limited and very dated facilities.

Btw: Will travel back on a 2.30am red-eye from MAA tonight. To be fair, it's not a dedicated CX lounge. But with mosquitos in terminal and spicy Indian food I rather stay away from prior to an overnight flight, it puts everything in perspective and lets me appreciate the fact that it can always be worse

And let's not forget NRT, in which the CX lounge is even worse than the Admirals Club.

HKG is spectacular. Why must the other CX lounges pale in comparison?

Agreed on everything you said. But is TPE a hub of CX? CX only flies to Japan, Korea, and HK from TPE.

"Focus city" is probably more appropriate for TPE.

With almost 20 daily flights going in and out of TPE, I would say that qualifies as a "mini-hub." CX should try to pick up SQ's slack and try a HKG-TPE-LAX flight and see how that goes.

CX doesn't have the trans-pacific fifth freedom beyond TPE, and I doubt Taiwan government would grant it. Also, both CI/BR will strongly object CX to step into this market as well.

That would kill all of the fantastic ex-TPE J fares to SFO, LAX, ORD & JFK. Not a fan.
