Priority Luggage Question

How reliable is CX with getting priority bags out first? I know it can be hit or miss but some airlines are better with others. Also, from what I understand theres 2 different tags for Business Class and First Class passengers. If I am flying J (2 class aircraft) and connecting to F long haul to my destination. Obviously my bag will be tagged the whole way but will they be equipped at DXB to give me a FC priority tag on my luggage?

Some stations are better at it than others.
Most of the time @HKG my bags do come out first.

Sure they can put F tags on at DXB, perhaps you have to kindly remind them of your second flight

Only twice in my decades of flying with CX did my bags come out later than priority. Both happened in JFK....

Honestly, it really depends on many factors. Depends on airport ground staff, aircraft type, loadings, and other things. But above I think are most important. Usually I get my bags quick, except for JFK. JFK is an on and off situation. At JFK, the belt is moving slow as you can imagine. Even if your bags get tagged prioroty, no one really cares. You have a better chance of getting your bags first if it is not tagged prority at JFK. At other airports, they do just fine. Get your bags quick and out you go. In regards to your question, if your final flight is F, your bags will get F. On the other hand, if your first flight is F, and your final destination is J, your bag will get tagged J. Cheers

Our experience is that it depends on the airport: at HKG and LHR our bags in F are always in the first few (2nd and 4th on the belt arriving into LHR this morning). At AKL a couple of weeks ago we had to wait a while, however.

I've never had a problem at JFK, bags always out in the first few.

By the time I get through customs at JFK my bags are there, no clue how long they have been there though.

In the last month I have been on flights from London and Los Angeles and had my bags tagged in First Class. In both cases the bags came out about 10 minutes after the belt started to move. Usually CX is pretty good about getting the F Bags out first then J but lately my bags have been showing up much later

Regarding JFK, in the past CX used to (at least sometimes) use 2 different carousels, one for priority bags and the other for non-priority bags. It seems that CX has stopped doing it lately.

Don't you think it might be getting time to consolidate these..??? Your excitement for flying CX F is definitely appreciated, but any chance you could maybe lump a bunch of questions into a "I'm flying F for the first time" thread?

I'm going to assumed this is after you waited in line for a good 30 minutes, because the design of T7 itself prevents luggage off-loading to be on the belt as fast your statement would suggest.

Right now I sit at the first exit row of Y, and usually I'm the first batch of Y pax to get off the plane after the F/J pax. Walked straight up to the customs area (a good 2 minutes), maybe a little wait at the customs line (least amount of time I've waited is 2-3 minutes), and my record is probably that, within 10 minutes to the luggage belt, and then I can look forward to a long wait for the siren to go off indicating luggage is coming.

Now, I would say that JFK has been very very good in throwing out F/J bag tags first. But like I said, in my decades of flying only twice has they messed up the order (two luggages, one came out right away, another was one of the last ones to come out, both are tagged Business Priority.)

While we're at it, it would be nice if you could consolidate your questions re. your HKG layover into one thread too:

Last time I did HKG-JFK we first had to wait for the paramedics to take a passenger off board, then I was directed to a line at customs where they were clearing some people on UN-permits followed by someone who had trouble leaving fingerprints. I was first of the plane but last through customs.

Will try JFK again in 2.5 weeks, arriving on AA out of GRU, connecting to CX
