Redemption group booking

So basically I set up the account of my wife and myself to link to each other (redemption group setting). Using her Asia Miles number and my Marco Polo number.

I got about 100K miles and try to book a redemption ticket from her account, but I always get the message: "Not enough miles" for a booking that only takes 60K miles. Anything I do wrong? Is there anything I'm missing to let her use my miles for a flight? Or is this limited only to redemption of other stuff (not flights)?

Which account were you logged on - yours or hers - when you did your booking? How many Asia Miles are in that account?

you could pay up stupid amounts n transfer miles... not quite something we would recommend here... (unless i suppose, you NEED to fly out, and dont have/want to pay the money, and transfering would cost you less than actuallybuying a ticket, then perhaps... but i doubt that's the case)

My wife has 40K in her account. I am thinking of transferring to my account so we can have one free 90K long-haul in the summer for our son to visit Taiwan.

Miles transferring is very expensive, though.

Strange as it may seem, but it's cheaper to transfer miles by 10k at a time than transferring 20k as a whole. CX/AM charges $170 for the first 10k (the min.) But charges $140 per increment of 5k thereafter!

Assuming of course you want to transfer miles in 10k increments..
