MPC "Redemption Group"

This seems to be a little known / discussed feature - the "redemption group". I have quite a lot of miles that I want my family members to be able to use, has anyone used this feature before? After I "nominate" them, can they just simply use my miles as they would if it were on their account, or is there some special procedure?

Thanks in advance

basically yes
either you let them know of your details that the MPC/AM agent would use to identify your account, or you do the booking for them,

On a related question, can I pool the miles together for one ticket? My wife has 40,000 miles and it's about to expire. Can I use that, and then 50,000 miles from my account to get a free ticket for our son?

Thanks!

No... I've tried this. I have a Credit Card which accumulates the most miles. My wife always flies with me and only gets her 'flying miles'... She's in my redemption group. I've asked this same question... needed 80K miles for her redemption, she had 40 in her account... tried to use it with 40 from my account.. they said no. I had to pay to transfer them into my account, or pay to transfer 40 from my account if I wanted to use them. It's quite expensive to do...

Just beware that if you want to remove a redemption group member, you have to pay a hefty US$90 (online) or US$160 fee (phone).

I feel bad for those people that marry, divorce and remarry and had to change their redemption group member...

I know you can use up to 5 names, but they can fill up fast when you add parents, etc.
