going to wing or pier after arrival?

I will be flying YYZ-hkg in 1st. I want to know if the following is possible, if after I arrive, instead of using the arrivals lounge. can I go to the pier or wing instead? If so how do i do this?
The reason is that I have a friend leaving HKG at the same hour and would be convinent for us to have breakfast there, as he would have already checked in.

No, you cannot. Arrival and Departure is on different levels. One would need to have a valid onward connection to get up to the departure level. The easiest way is to have b'fast with your friend at land-side.

Unfortunately no chance. The pier/wing are departure lounges, after security and immigration. You don't have an onward ticket. Kinda like your family showing up with you at YYZ when you take off and asking staff to go through security so they can have a drink with you at the YYZ departure lounge.....

You would need to have a same-day departure ticket and BP in order to reach the Wing/Pier. Now if that ticket were refundable it wouldn't cost too much (just some service fees) but really not worth the hassle much less the cost.
