Funny, I passed through twelve and then six days ago, and didn't notice a thing. All I did notice, which might or might not be renovation-related, is that in the F section cabanas the door to the external resting area was locked the first time and that the water usually covering the small stones in the area was not there the second time.

Sorry, what lower level business class lounge? I thought the Wing was all on one level, upstairs.

There's a small seating area, food station and of course the Game Zone behind the Business Class reception on Level 6. It's mainly used for overflow or those really early morning 2, 3 am departures where the upper lounge is closed.

Does any of the CX F lounges in HKG still offer a la carte dining? Or have the cost cutting trimmed everything down to just those offered in the buffets?

I've observed that more than once over the past couple of years.

Quite normal. I've never understood why, but they often turn the water off at certain times. Sometimes they say they're cleaning it, other times offer no explanation. Regardless, you can always have them bring a key and unlock the door to the outside part - I always do.

I might have missed something, but I have not had la carte dining in F lounges for years. Nor any decent wine.
At breakfast you can get your eggs la carte.
As the F lounge is open to all DM and OW emerald, that is not surprising.

they have closed off a small part of the upper level of the j class side near gate 4. it looks like they will be expanding the lounge over there.

Maybe the Wing lounge (J section) can add a Pre-Flight Dining area, like the one in BA Terraces Lounge @ JFK, for J pax, as well as MPC members at the Wing Lounge's renovation.
this means that the original food/drink bar is retained in J lounge and a new dining room with a Full Buffet is set in the J lounge for J pax and Members of MPC to get more sleep in the long-haul flights like:
Dinner Buffet for: CX251,CX888,CX255,CX271,CX293,CX233,CX206.
Breakfast Buffet for: CX548,CX139,CX163,CX520,CX506.
In addition, The Wing's F section's dining room can be converted to an a-la-carte dining style, serving the same purpose as above.
Then, when these passengers are on flight, the 1st meal is distributed On request.

In the F section, the Library will go and be made into the new Cabanas. Everything will be done in stages. I will post the model of the new Wing when I get the time to do so.

Complete overhaul will be completed by summer 2012.

Thanks for the info, GB. But boy, that's a long time for a renovation!
