be pushy with aadv cs... if they say they dont see the seat ask them to check directly with cathay. kvs i think your tool always gets it right just cx put some kind of internal lock that they always seem to override if called

Generally I find that if CX shows 2 or more seats via AsiaMiles, then you should be able to get at least one via AA. If CX only has one, then it's a crapshoot.
I was recently very frustrated trying to change to a HKG-JFK nonstop (the YVR 1-stop) on the day of departure, even though CX had 1 Z seat open. The Airport Express agents couldn't even change me within the check-in window. At least I got more time in CX F.

I use the BA, AsiaMiles, and QF sites to check availability. BA is hard to use, but I find AsiaMiles even worse.

My experience is that when AsiaMiles show availability but it says "seats are limited" (and the flight has a red bar which indicates limited availability) that means there is 1 seat left and for sure they do not give it out partners. I have less than a 10% success rate for these flights. Conversely, when this message does not show up on the flight selections I have a greater than 90% success rate in booking my desired flight.

Does anybody know when CX is updated if it's updated daily? I feel like I've checked at different points during the day and see different availability...
Thanks!

There are several threads on the same subject regarding non-Asia Miles redemption availabilities on CX flights. Instead of moving the threads over to the corresponding forums, I am closing these threads. Please start a new thread in the forum for the corresponding mileage programme.
