Questions to award changes...

Yes. You saw it right. Your mod is asking a question regarding award changes cos it has been ions since I redeemed an Asiamiles booking!

I've booked a BA award. Can I change the inbound before the outbound flight occurs? I know if I change dates on the outbound, it sometimes triggers a reprice and reissue.. but I forget what the rules are when it pertains to changes to the return segment...

Thank you !!

Not sure for BA based ticket, but for AM based ones, you can definitely change anything before travel commencement without extra charge, with the following exception that will cause re-issue

1. Change outbound segments to earlier days (same day does not affect)
2. Change outbound and / or inbound segment which are later than the origional expiry of ticket

I change my return day 3 times before travel commencement, all within ticket validility therefore no charges. For award ticekt think it as a full Y ticket with restricted avaliability.

Provided your airline, class and routing is identical to the existing booking, no penalty should apply.

It's only when availability is tight and you have to change routing or class (I don't think you can really change airline) then you get penalised.

I do this plenty on QF tix redeemed from MPO with AM. I was penalised once by 15K miles for changing routing of Sydney through Brisbane to Sydney through Melbourne.
