Upgrade Question

I currently have a M class ticket. I know it is not upgradable, but is there a way to do it by "upgrading" the ticket to K class with cash and then do the upgrade with miles? My flight is showing wide open for all fare classes. I don't understand if it cannot be done affordably because it would have been a lost sale.

My mother-in-law did that before - went back to her TA and paid the L->K fare difference and some charges.

Oh, no. So I guess I cannot do it at the counter? It will be difficult as I bought the ticket in NY and am in HK.

I guess you can call CX ticketing office and ask for help ... (of course before you head to this, call MPC / AM to confirm there's a opening for upgrade first )

Reservations (852) 2747-1888
Office Hours: Mon-Sun 0700-2300

No problem at all, I tried that a couple of times. Just call MPC or reservation line, to tell them you want to do an " Up-Fare" from M to K class. However that you will not be able to do OLCI because you need to go to airport to pay the fare difference, they will not accept credit card on the phone. If you want to do OLCI you will need to go local ticketing office to pay the fare difference.

Thanks everyone. I went to the counter at HKIA to do it directly. Actually I think I had the L class fare, so I paid USD 50 with credit card and the 45000 miles for the one-way upgrade. I did the OLCI beforehand so they canceled my check-in and did it again.

Sorry for bringing this topic up again.

After doing an upgrade from K class to business, does one still get any club mile (for the original K class ticket)?

As we have mention it over and over, you get the underlying Y miles

Aka if travel on CX / KA metal, 100% Asia Miles and 100% Club Miles
