U class waitlist clearance
I'm currently confirmed on 6 Mar CX111 HKG/SYD in U class (miles upgrade from paid economy to J). Have been trying to push this date back to the following weekend (12/13 Mar) but no success other than waitlist for CX101 on both of those dates.
Now here's the interesting part - the 6 Mar CX 111 is showing I3 D7 J9 C9. Both the CX101 flights the following week show greater availability across all business class fare buckets.
Does anyone have clues as to when CX release U class inventory? Obviously I will need to know before 6 Mar. When I checked past threads, it was mentioned that all waitlist requests go straight to revenue control. Given light loads and my MPO silver, I'd have expected to get clearance fairly quickly. But it's been about two weeks. Guess SL is just not good enough
Any suggestions appreciated.

just wait, i'm now waiting a FUK-TPE or KIX-TPE U waitlist to clear on day after easter 'monday'. ticketing deadline in 10 days, and i AM hoping to have a short stay in TPE rather getting the flight back to HK straight away...

It is just matter of time. CX will check the waitlist from time to time. They will certainly release the seat to you since you use the mileage for the upgrade. They won't let the business class seat waste.

OP's problem is that he is waitlisted on a flight a week after the confirmed one. If CX releases seats a few days ahead, he may be forced to take the confirmed flight already. Yes, CX will try not to let their business seats wasted, but it does not always work well. My father was lucky to get his confirmation only about eight hours before his flight a few years ago.

agree: 1) it's equally likely noone's gonna pick up OP's earlier seat if CX lets him move to the later flight.
2) my itinerary has a JL flight so I dont know if i can push back my waitlist deadline...
