Seat availability
Just a question,
I have one leg of a HKG-SYD weekend trip confirmed, the other is waitlisted. KVS has the seat availability as there being 2 seats in J class, yet Y seems wide open. Is CX likely to release more J seats or am I unlucky in the sense that on that day, J happens to be nearly booked?

CX will generally release more seats from 24-48 hours due departure just in case any DM members need a seat in "J" booking class which they can get up to 24 hours prior to departure.
However, since this weekend is the Lunar New Year (ie Chinese New Year) and the mass exodus from HKG starts on Thurs, those seats might be waitlisted by members with higher statuses than you who cannot get the guaranteed seat. And when CX releases those seats they will be released to those already on waitlist. If you have a good TA , however, they might be able to pull some strings for you to get your seat confirmed.
Generally it is ok.. but not the weekend of the beginning of the Lunar New Year.
