this comes up all the time... Just use the search area (top right)...
anyway, 6 one 1/2 dozen I'd say - Use whatever is closest to your departure gate.

I agree the key factor is your departing gate.
Anyway, against the common consensus, I prefer the seclusion of "the pier" compared to the open-space provided by "the wing".

I also like to be in the lounge closer to the departing gate, although I prefer the Wing. I had problems with my mobile phone signals inside the Pier in the past.
If my flight departs at Gate 60+, I sometimes eat and work in the Wing, and then depart to the Pier about an hour prior to departure.

Same here. I'll be doing just that on Sunday when I fly JFK-HKG-MNL.

i remembered somewhere i read about the ''shuttle train'' within the airport that only goes from one direction? but not back? can someone please explain how this work?
for the J lounges, are the showers all the same? or are they somehow different? which lounge has ''more'' showers? (to proven queue)
many thanks

The shuttle train now goes in single direction.
====================
Previous Configuration
====================
Departure
Gate 1-20 -----> Gate 40+
======>>><<<=======
======>>><<<=======
Arrival
A arrival train is always arrival, and departure is always departure, enabling "back-tracking" within the terminal, with 6 cars (or 8) 1 long train
====================
Current Configuration
====================
Departure
Gate 1-20 -----> Gate 40+
=======>>>>>=======
/ /
=======<<<<<=======
Arrival
the train switch direction at both end and serve the opposite side traffic, and the number of cars has reduced to 4, enabling higher frequency (but eliminating the back-tracking offer)

Showers in the Pier are much bigger, better, fresher, more spacious and cleaner compared to the Wing, Queue depends on the time, early morning flights departures (before 9am) tend see more queue than other hours as transit passengers from EU and North America connecting to Asia usually takes advantage of the showers at this time

Up until this week I had always preferred the Wing and felt the Pier was too dark and secluded. However, this week the Wing was extremely busy, the dining area had a line 15 deep and it was like a Las Vegas feeding frenzy inside. I ended up walking down to the Pier and really appreciated its quietness, calmness and elegance.
