Automatic Special Meal assignment?
I ordered the fruit meal last time I traveled HKG-PVG-HKG because my stomach was turning. But this time I didn't request any fruit meal but I was surprised that when I'm situated the FA says "Mr. ___ your fruit meal is prepared for you and what drink would you like with it?" I accepted it anyway since they already prepared it (but I got to say they really scale down on fruit meal this time, it was totally watermelons versus last time when it's dominating with honey dews.) Anyway, just wanted to comment that I guess their computer system not only memorize your seat selections but also special meals selections and predetermines that for you.

Perhaps you have something specified in your MPC profile?
I book special meals all the time on certain sectors but have never had one automatically assigned to me, it's always only if I specifically request it.

Reminds me...
I used to select AVML becuase I had flights to Korea and Japan and at times on these routes they quickly run out of non-red meat dishes. I was flying HKG-TPE one morning and while everyone else was getting a cocktail sandwich of some sort, out comes my full Indian 3 course breakfast with all the trimmings.. I got some interesting looks from my fellow passengers...

I frankly hate CX special menu as it appear to be designed by an idiot. If I'm lactose intolerant I get served a greasy vegetarian Indian meal for breakfast!
I guess that idiot feels that a vegetarian Indian meal fit for most dietary requirement. I would not be surprised if I get served Indian as a "fruit platter" option!!
I have written tens of times about how awful is the special meal and CX appears to be deaf with respect this matter.

Eh? An Indian Vegetarian meal would seem to fit the "lactose intolerant" specification assuming it had no cheese in it (and I've seen quite good reports of CX's Indian Vegetarian meal). When I've seen people have fruit platters it has indeed been simply platters of fruit.
