Use capital one points to buy miles?
Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else, but I just could not find an answer anywhere. Is it possible to purchase miles from an airline and use the Capital One travel eraser to cover the cost? I think it could be a good use if the right sale came along. I'd be really interested if it worked for purchasing Avianca Lifemiles.

Not sure where you looked, but it was pretty easy to find:

In summary, most airlines outsource mile selling to points.com so the purchase doesn't post as a travel purchase. LifeMiles is an exception as they do the selling themselves, so your plan would work. YMMV.
